Testimonials "Terra Phoenix, saved my sanity. Well not exactly but close. I have 2.5 acres that I wanted to turn into a small permaculture farm, but was floundering. I read several books on permaculture and started planting things here and there, trying to follow the ideas in the books, but finally realized after digging up several plants and replanting them that what I needed was a master design, designed by someone who knew what they were doing. So I contacted Terra Phoenix. They came out within days and assessed my wants and my property, giving me a realistic idea of what it would cost. We worked closely together over the next several weeks to come up with what I really wanted. Their ideas and plans were very well explained and detailed. They even gave me detailed instructions on how to construct and plant as well as the best places to purchase what I need. I now have a large copy of the design on my office wall and use it constantly as I purchase the necessary plants and equipment needed to turn my land into my dream." - Sherrian Stites After making a huge life change and deciding to become a farmer, I then had to figure out where to start. Once I was exposed to permaculture, I knew I had discovered something profound. So, I took the next logical, and exciting, step and attended a permaculture design course at the Bullock's Permaculture Homestead. After returning to our farm in Sequim, WA my head was spinning with potential design ideas...but my experiential knowledge was still very limited. So, I invited Terra Phoenix Design out to our farm. We began with an initial, in-depth site walk that shed light on the incredible variety of possibilities that the landscape was offering. The powers of observation that the team brought to the site were astounding. The process continued with an extensive interview involving everyone that was participating in the farm project. This group discussion/ Q and A about needs, desires, and visions, really helped develop the direction that the design process would take. We then walked the site again, with new eyes, and the Terra Phoenix Design team began offering specific design choices and development plans. Finally, we wrapped up with a download of everything we had discussed while referencing the base map of the property. Terra Phoenix Design brings an incredible array of knowledge, skill, and ideas to the design process. From access, earthworks, and structures to plant species selection and placement, and all of the relationships between them...the team had original, flexible ideas. They also helped us prioritize some of our projects so that we create an ongoing arc of success and fulfillment. After the visit, Terra Phoenix Design sent us a detailed conceptual map, an overview of the property plan as reflected from our interview/Q&A, and copious other resources to ensure our success, including information on plant selection, plant sources, pruning, mulching, and more. I use this information daily as I implement the plan for our farm. Having Terra Phoenix Design come out and help us develop our site plan was invaluable. Even with very specific parameters, the possibilities within a site design can be huge; and on the other hand, sometimes it makes the most sense for the root cellar to go "here". From very free-thinking and broad to specific and minute, Terra Phoenix Design brings a vast wealth of knowledge and experience to the process. I recommend their services to anyone who is trying to develop a property with efficiency, sustainability, and productivity. - Justin Ridle, Big Barn Farm |
